Kuala Lumpur, 29 May 2007 - Microlink Worldwide Sdn Bhd ("MWSB"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Microlink Solutions Berhad ("Microlink") and Kuwaiti based, Technology World Company ("TWC") had on 25 May 2007 entered into a Joint Venture Agreement ("the Agreement"). MWSB and TWC have agreed to collaborate in distributing Microlink Banking Solutions ("MiBS") in the Middle East and North Africa ("MENA") region and to form a new joint-venture company in the State of Kuwait which will be established for the purpose of providing sales and support services for MiBS within the region.
The establishment of Microlink Technology World Company ("MTWC") brings together the complementary strengths of both partners. Microlink provides a wide range of financial products and outstanding technologies, while TWC offers access to its current customers from various banks and financial institutions in the MENA region. Drawing on the combined strengths of Microlink and TWC, MTWC will be able to provide the best value through expanded research and development, a broader range of Islamic financial products, increased sales capabilities and a more comprehensive set of market offerings.
TWC is a wholly owned subsidiary of AREF Investment Group, which provides leading-edge IT and technology driven solutions in various fields and has a solid customer base in Kuwait, Africa and other Middle Eastern countries. Microlink will leverage on the substantial relationship of TWC with various banks and financial institutions to implement its research and development in order to develop applications to support new Islamic finance products for which the demand in the MENA region is growing exponentially.
